OF GRACE CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

WILL BE HELD BOTH IN-PERSON AND VIA ZOOM

ON SUNDAY, JUNE 14, 2026, AT 11:15 AM

ARTICLE VI – CONGREGATIONAL MEETINGS
Sec. 1. The governing body of this church is the membership assembled in congregational meeting. The vote of a majority of the members present and voting at a congregational meeting shall be the action of the church. Meetings may be held by electronic means. A quorum shall consist of fifty (50) active members, but a smaller number may adjourn to a fixed date.

Sec. 2. The annual meetings of this church shall be held at dates and times to be determined by Council. The Budget/Financial Annual Meeting of the church will be held at the end of January or beginning of February. The Program Annual Meeting, including the election of officers, boards and committees and the submission of committee reports, will be held in late May or
early June. Any business of the church may be transacted at either meeting. Special meetings may be called by the Moderator whenever occasion requires and shall be called by the Moderator when a request in writing is presented by seven members of the church. Notice shall be given in the manner provided for the annual meetings.

Sec. 3. Notice of congregational meetings, stating the place or electronic means of participation, date, time and description of matters to be approved by the members, shall be posted at all entrances of the church building at least fourteen days before the day of the meeting and shall be read from the pulpit at least once within a two-week period prior to the meeting. The meeting
notice shall appear in Sunday bulletins and on the church website, and may be sent electronically or by other means to members. An up-to-date membership list shall be available for inspection two days after notice of the meeting is posted.

Sec. 4. Items of business that need immediate attention may be introduced at any congregational meeting, unless objection is made and is sustained by one-third of the members present.

Sec. 5. In every meeting of the congregation the following order shall be observed, unless other
order has been stated in the notice of the meeting:

  • (a) constituting prayer,
  • (b) reading, amending if necessary, and adopting minutes of the preceding congregational meeting(s),
  • (c) reports,
  • (d) action on proposed annual budget when necessary,
  • (e) old or tabled business,
  • (f) new business,
  • (g) closing prayer or hymn.

Sec. 6. Materials for each congregational meeting will be available one week before the meeting. Available means in printed copy or in electronic format on request from the business office. Materials shall include:

  • (a) draft minutes of previous congregational meeting(s) to be adopted,
  • (b) proposed budget and Treasurer’s report if that is the purpose of the meeting,
  • (c) nominations for officers and board and committee members if that is the purpose of the meeting, including an updated descriptive list of committees, boards and groups,
  • (d) and any motions to be acted upon, including motions for transfers of money.
