Dec. 22 ~ Service of Light in the Midst of Darkness

Chances are, someone you loved dearly has died. Have you found the need and the confidence to speak your beloved’s name with faith and a spirit to hope? It may be the first Christmas without family members or friends who have recently died. A space and time is needed to acknowledge the sadness and grief, but also to be reminded you are not alone. The Service of Light in the Midst of Darkness provides an opportunity to do just that. Join us on Sunday, December 22, at 4 pm in the Grace Church Sanctuary for a time of healing, encouragement hope and inspiration.

Rutland Area Chorus & Orchestra ~ Spring Concert

Where: Grace UCC Sanctuary

About:
Directed by Alastair Stout

The Rutland Area Chorus and Orchestra will be joined by soloists Allison Devery-Steinmetz and David Castonguay to perform the Requiem, Op. 48, by Gabriel Fauré. Violinist Kevin Bushee will also join the orchestra to perform The Lark Ascending, a ‘romance for violin and orchestra’, by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Both pieces portray the optimism of the human spirit, and are dominated by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest. This will be a wonderfully reflective concert for post-Easter season.

A pre-concert talk by David Castonguay will be given at 3:30pm in the Grace Church Sanctuary.  A post-concert reception will also be held in the Fellowship Hall.

* A freewill offering will be accepted in aid of the Grace Church Organ Repair Fund.
