April 14 – One Great Hour of Sharing

One Great Hour of  Sharing (OGHS) is one of the UCC special offerings.  Your offerings can do more than you can imagine!

On Palm Sunday, April 14, 2019, our congregation will be giving our offerings to OGHS as way to help:

  • Specific Natural Disaster support
  • Refugee Emergency support
  • Church World Service Kit assembly
  • Sustainable Development Ministries

Coin boxes and giving calendars are available on the literature tables just at Grace Church.  Follow ‎@OGHS_at_UCC Twitter feed to keep yourself up to date on how UCC is making change with your change.

Mar. 3 – Rutland: 350VT Meeting

Join our climate justice group to discuss climate action for the Rutland area and organize local solutions!

When: Sunday, March 3, 2019, 3:00-5:00pm

Where: Grace Church Youth Center

About: Rutland Area 350VT will be holding a meeting in the Youth Center to discuss our next steps in climate justice in the Rutland area.  All are invited to attend and join with others in dealing with urgent issues around climate.

350VT organizes, educates, and supports people in Vermont to work together for climate justice – resisting fossil fuels, building momentum for alternatives, and transforming our communities toward justice and resilience.

Jan. 27 – Evening Service

The Rutland Area Evening Choir invites you to join us this Sunday evening where we will offer a service of Lessons and Carols for Epiphany.

The service will celebrate the season of Epiphany with favorite anthems including Behold! A Star from Jacob Shining by Felix Mendelssohn and Stars by Ēriks Ešenvalds.

The evenings offering will be donated to the Rutland County Parent-Child Center.

Welcome in 2019 with an Epiphany/New Year hymn-sing, where you can sing your favorite seasonal hymns. Alastair will also play the magnificent Aeolian-Skinner organ. The hymn-sing will begin at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Plan to be with us and then continue on to the tree burning!

Where: Parlor for Breakfast; Service in the Sanctuary

Christmas Breakfast 9:00 am followed by one Service 10:00 am

Potluck Breakfast at 9:00 am; One Service at 10 a.m. You are invited to gather in the Parlor for a potluck breakfast prior to worship at 10:00 a.m. If you can’t be with family, come join with your Grace Church family. If you have family visiting, bring them along!

Oct. 7 – World Communion Sunday

When: October 7, 2018 at 10:00 am

Where: Grace Church Sanctuary

About: Please join the Grace Church Sanctuary choir and SSAA choir to celebrate World Communion Sunday.   The choirs will lead worship with a variety of songs from all over the globe, including the wonderful Spanish song, Samba de las Escrituras.

Nov. 4 – All Saints’ Sunday

When: November 4, 2018 at 7:00pm

Where: Grace Church sanctuary

About:  A Celebration of Lives for All Saints’ Sunday

Grace Church Sanctuary Choir, Castleton University Chorale and soloists, will present an evening of music and poetry to celebrate and remember the lives of those who have died.  Under the direction of Dr. Sherrill Blodget, the choirs will perform Antiono Vivaldi’s Gloria, accompanied by Alastair Stout on the Grace Church organ. Between the movements of the Gloria, specially chosen poems will reflect on the lives of loved-ones who have died this past year.

 

Sept. 9 – Song Recital

When: September 9th, 2018

Where: Grace UCC Sanctuary

Aug. 31 – Bethany Birches Camping Weekend

When: Labor Day Weekend, Aug. 31-Sept.3

Where: Bethany Birches, 2610 Lynds Hill Road, Plymouth, VT 05056

About:
Tents, pop-ups, and trailers are all welcome. There are rustic cabins for use, as well, if you do not have camping equipment. Come for one, two, or three nights or come just for the day on either Saturday or Sunday. There will be a potluck dinner on Saturday night and an outdoor worship on Sunday morning. Come and relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Come and be in fellowship with others. Come and have fun playing games and hiking!

Directions from Rutland:

  • Take it Rte. 4 East through Rutland and into Killington. In after a long straight-away you’ll see two general stores. Make a right onto 100 South.
  • Follow that for 6 or 7 miles.
  • Make a left onto 100A
  • Go 0.9 Miles and turn right onto Lynds Hill Rd.
  • Go 2.6 miles on the twisting, country road
    (You may think that you’re lost, but you aren’t!)
  • Bethany Birches Camp is on your right and is clearly marked. The cabin is on your right as you enter the parking lot.
