The Grace Church Steeple Chase – a celebration of Rutland’s history and heritage – is dedicated to the memory of Lincoln Fenn, a long-time member of Grace Church and historian extraordinaire.
The Steeple Chase is free and all are welcome.
Grace Church Steeple Chase Rules:
Please park in the West Street parking lot and register in the Grace Church children’s playground behind the library. There will be no access to Grace Church, so public restrooms will not be available.
To follow state regulations, please wear masks or cloth facial coverings over your nose and mouth anywhere you come in contact with others from outside your households, especially in congregate settings, and where it is not possible to maintain a physical distance of at least six feet.
Your team will solve the provided clues. The clues can be solved in any order. *You will be given a QRcode to scan; please be sure that someone on your team has a charged smartphone handy.
All clues will send you to the outside of public locations within 3/4 – mile radius of Grace Church. Please refrain from entering the properties during the Steeple Chase Challenge. Please respect the properties and their grounds.
Unless stated otherwise, each team is asked to photograph themselves in front of the key locations. Judges should be able to review the images on your phone or digital camera at the end of the challenge. (No phones or cameras will be provided.)
All teams must return to Grace Church by 12-noon.
The winning team will be announced on Sunday morning, August 23, during the 10 a.m. worship service at Grace Church.

Rutland Meals Project – The Rutland Meals Challenge packaging event will be held on Saturday, January 19. Since 2013, the Rutland Meals Challenge has added many meals to the local emergency food system. We have provided meals to a dozen local food shelves,
including the Community Cupboard of Rutland and the Vermont Food Bank. This year they would like to add 35,000 servings to that total, and need over 200 people to make this event a success! There are opportunities for set-up, breakdown, packaging shifts, box builders, carton hauling & stacking, and movers & shakers (who refill the food bins as we work). Each volunteer must sign up individually, even if part of a team. There will be several shifts: 9:30-11a.m.; 11-12:30 p.m.; 12:30-2 p.m.; 2-3:30 p.m.
Sign up to volunteer for the 9:30-11 a.m. shift or another time that works for you.
