According to Castleton Indivisible, one of the sponsors of the march, the purpose of the march was to protest and bring more awareness of the cruel, inhumane and unjustified separation of children from their parents along the U.S. border with Mexico, and at other ports of entry into the U.S.

According to the flyer passed out at march, “We were protesting the conditions in which these children are kept. We protest the irreversible trauma that has already been perpetrated on these children and their parents for the “crime” of seeking a better life. We believe this new policy of the Trump Administration is immoral, abhorrent, and cruel. We stand firmly in support with our immigrant brothers and sisters.”
